Kampong Glam stories from a fourth-generation local

Local tour guide in Singapore, Singapore.

My family has lived around Kampong Glam for four generations, and I still pray at the Sultan Mosque my great-grandfather helped maintain. I left a corporate career to share the district I love: the perfumers, the textile merchants, the sarabat stalls, and the quiet lanes behind Haji Lane's murals. When you walk with me, you are not visiting a heritage district. You are visiting my neighbourhood, and my neighbours are expecting us.

Kampong Glam: The Sultan's Quarter Up Close

Explore the historic Malay-Muslim quarter with someone whose family helped build it. We visit the Sultan Mosque respectfully, smell our way through a third-generation perfume house, taste teh sarabat and murtabak, and decode the street art of Haji Lane. History, faith, fashion, and food in one unhurried afternoon.
