Walking Singapore's WWII fall and occupation
Local tour guide in Singapore, Singapore.
My grandfather survived the Sook Ching screenings, and his stories set me on a thirty-year path of studying the war in Singapore. I taught history for two decades before guiding full time. My battlefield walks are honest, carefully researched, and human: soldiers on both sides, civilians in between. I bring archival photos and maps so you can stand exactly where history happened and see what the camera saw in 1942.
Trace the seven days that ended an empire, from the beaches the invasion bypassed to the room where Britain surrendered. Using archival photographs held against today's skyline, we walk Fort Canning's Battlebox surrounds, the Kranji memorial rows, and the civilian memorial. Rigorous, respectful history from a former teacher.
